Nominate a WordPress plugin, best or worst

Help us tell the WordPress plugins that extend what people can do from the ones that take something away. Five plain questions.

WordPress runs about two in five websites, and much of what it does comes from plugins. Some extend what site owners can do and stay out of their way. Others slow sites down, lock content in, or keep the controls somewhere else. We would like help telling them apart.

The nomination form asks whether a plugin does the job it promises, then six plain questions. Is it heavy? Does it lock you in? Does it need an expert? Does someone else hold the controls? Does it keep forcing change? Does it cost you more than it gives back? “Not sure” is a good answer, and you don’t need to be a developer.

Those six questions are a plain-language version of the six balances the catalogue scores every tool against, set out in How to evaluate tools. The WordPress record shows them applied to WordPress itself.

We read every nomination. The most useful ones become catalogue records, with sources, and we may quote what you write without your name.
